Class Descriptions

Man performs Tai Chi sport under moonlight. Tai Chi is a old Chinese martial art practiced for both its defense training and its health benefits. Its full name is Tai Chi Chuan. Tai Chi is a meditation sport for many people living in the modern world. It is similar to kung fu; judo; aikido; taekwondo; Yoga; etc.

Tai Chi Beginners

This class establishes the groundwork for the in-depth and progressive study of Taiji and Qigong.  In addition to foundation exercises, the class introduces students to the Hunyuan 24 form (series of detail choreographed sequential movements).

Tai Chi Advanced

This class builds upon the Qigong and Taiji skills and knowledge learned in the Beginners Class.  Practice is designed to refine and further develop student knowledge, understanding and execution of these arts.  The class is intended to allow students to reach a deeper level of attainment.

Returns Spring 2025

Taiji Matthews is partnering with The Town of Matthews Parks and Recreation Department to offer a free series of Tai Chi classes.  The classes will focus on the basics, fundamentals and principles of Tai Chi and Qigong. Classes are suitable for beginners and those with Tai Chi experience.  Registration requested.

There are no contracts.

Private Instruction can be arranged to accommodate the schedule and desired goals of the student.  Many people find that targeted one-on-one instruction leads to rapid advances in skill and knowledge.
