Promoting Holistic Health with Taiji and Qigong

Taiji Matthews was founded to help people build a happier and healthier mind and body through the practice of Taiji (Tai Chi) and Qigong (Chi Gong).  Taiji is the ultimate mind-body exercise characterized by slow gentle whole body coordinated movement.  Qigong or “Energy Work” is a system of exercises using the mind and body to nurture and develop the energy (Chi or Qi) within one’s body.  Practiced together, these foster self-healing, relaxation and a host of wellbeing benefits.

Head Instructor

My name is Wayne Brown and I am a Certified Instructor of Taiji and Qigong. I have spent more than 40 years studying Karate-do with Black Belt rankings in Okinawan Gensei-ryu and Japanese Shotokan. I have studied and practiced Chen Hunyuan Xinyi Taijiquan for over 20 years. My purpose in teaching is to share the gifts of Taiji and Qigong with you and others.

The benefits of regular practice of Taiji and Qigong have been recognized by respected entities such as The Harvard Health News Letter, Mayo Clinic, National Institute of Health and others. Taiji and Qigong practice can be beneficial in many ways.

Almost anyone can practice.  My classes are designed to allow participation of people from young to not-so-young.  I myself, now in my 70’s, first hand understand the challenges of aging.  I also have experienced the dramatic positive benefits which this practice has given to my life.  And if you are younger, now is the time to build a stronger foundation for a healthy and long life.

My purpose in teaching is to help you learn correct Taiji and Qigong.  If you learn the fundamentals correctly, then these arts become your art.  You will be able to practice correctly and in a manner that produces the desired results.  Practicing without correct principles will cause a practitioner to miss out on many of the profound benefits of this practice.

In my thinking, practice may not make perfect.  But “correct practice does make perfect.”  I can guide you in a correct, efficient and effective way.

I can only describe as “wonderfully amazing” the way that your body can feel once you begin practicing Taiji and Qigong.  And I would love to share the gift of Taiji and Qigong with you.  Please join me and let’s together take a step toward a happier healthier mind and body.
